Introduction

The Telangana State Integrated Common Entrance Test (TSICET) is a state-level entrance examination conducted by Kakatiya University, Warangal, on behalf of the Telangana State Council of Higher Education (TSCHE). This exam is a gateway for admissions into the Master of Computer Applications (MCA) and Master of Business Administration (MBA) courses offered by all universities in Telangana and their affiliated colleges. Syllabus

The TSICET MCA syllabus is divided into three main sections:

1. Analytical Ability (75 Questions)

  • Data Sufficiency (20 Questions): A question is given followed by two statements (I and II). Candidates must determine if the data provided in the statements is sufficient to answer the question. Questions can be mathematical or verbal.
  • Problem Solving (55 Questions):
    • Sequences and Series: Analogies of numbers and alphabet, completion of blank spaces following a pattern (a:b::c:d relationship), finding the odd one out, missing number in a sequence or series.
    • Data Analysis: Analysis of data presented in Tables, Graphs, Bar diagrams, Pie Charts, Venn Diagrams, or Passages, and answering questions based on the interpretation of this data.
    • Coding & Decoding Problems: Coding and decoding words or groups of letters based on given patterns.
    • Date, Time & Arrangement Problems: Calendar problems, clock problems, blood relationships, arrivals, departures and schedules, seating arrangements, symbol and notation interpretation.

2. Mathematical Ability (75 Questions)

  • Arithmetical Ability (35 Questions): Laws of indices, Ratio and proportion, Surds, Numbers and divisibility, L.C.M. and G.C.D., Rational numbers, Ordering, Percentages, Profit and loss, Partnership, Pipes and cisterns, Time, distance and work problems, Areas and volumes, Mensuration, Modular arithmetic.
  • Algebraical and Geometrical Ability (30 Questions): Statements, Truth tables, implication converse and inverse, Tautologies-Sets, Relations and functions, Applications (Equation of a line in different forms), Trigonometry (Trigonometric ratios, Trigonometric identities, sample problems on heights and distances), Polynomials, Remainder theorem and consequences, Linear equations and expressions, Progressions, Binomial Theorem, Matrices, Notion of a limit and derivative, Plane geometry (lines, Triangles, Quadrilaterals, Circles), Coordinate geometry (distance between points, section formula, slope of a line).
  • Statistical Ability (10 Questions): Frequency distributions, Mean, Median, Mode, Standard Deviation, Correlation, simple problems on Probability.

3. Communication Ability (50 Questions)

  • Vocabulary (10 Questions): Identification of vocabulary used in day-to-day communication, Synonyms, Antonyms, Meanings (sentences with dashes).
  • Business and Computer Terminology (10 Questions): Identification of basic terminology and concepts in computer and business contexts (letters, reports, memoranda, agenda, minutes, etc.).
  • Functional Grammar (15 Questions): Understanding the functional use of grammar in day-to-day communication as well as in business contexts (Tense forms, Voices, Articles, Prepositions, Conjunctions, Phrasal Verbs & Idioms, Subject-Verb Agreement).
  • Reading Comprehension (15 Questions - from 3 passages): Understanding written text and drawing inferences.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Nationality: The candidates should be Indian Nationals and satisfy local/non-local status requirements as per the Telangana State Educational Institutions (TSEI) Order, 1974, as amended. Candidates from other nationalities need to satisfy the rules of the concerned universities.
  • Minimum Age: Candidates must be at least 19 years of age. There is no upper age limit.
  • Educational Qualification:
    • Candidates should have passed a recognized Bachelor's Degree Examination of a minimum of three years duration (excluding oriental languages).
    • For MCA: The Bachelor's Degree must be with Mathematics at the 10+2 level or at the graduation level.
  • Minimum Marks:
    • At least 50% aggregate marks in the qualifying examination (for Unreserved/General category candidates).
    • At least 45% aggregate marks in the qualifying examination (in case of reserved categories: SC, ST, BC).
  • Distance Mode Programs: The qualifying Degree obtained through a Distance Mode Program should have recognition by a joint committee of UGC, AICTE, and DEC/DEB.
  • Appearing Candidates: Candidates who are appearing for the final year degree examination are also eligible to apply for TSICET. Their admission will be provisional until they submit the required documents.
  • Qualifying Marks in TSICET: Candidates must secure a minimum of 25% marks in TSICET (50 out of 200) to qualify. There are no minimum qualifying marks for SC/ST candidates.

Exam Pattern

  • Mode of Examination: Computer-Based Test (CBT) - Online.
  • Duration: 150 minutes (2 hours 30 minutes).
  • Type of Questions: Objective Type Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs), each with four options.
  • Total Number of Questions: 200.
  • Total Marks: 200.
  • Marking Scheme:
    • +1 mark for each correct answer.
    • There is NO negative marking for incorrect responses.
  • Medium of Question Paper: English, Telugu, and Urdu. (Sections A & B in English & Telugu / English & Urdu; Section C in English only).
  • Sectional Time Limit: There is no sectional time limit, allowing candidates flexibility to navigate across sections.

Application Procedure

The TSICET application process is online. Key steps include:

  1. Visit the official TSICET website (icet.tgche.ac.in).
  2. Click on the "Fee Payment" link to pay the application fee online (various categories and late fees apply).
  3. After successful payment, click on the "Fill Application Form" link.
  4. Enter the Payment Reference ID, Qualifying Examination Hall Ticket Number, Mobile Number, and Date of Birth to proceed.
  5. Fill in personal, academic, qualifying exam, and contact details.
  6. Upload scanned passport-size photograph and signature as per specified format and size.
  7. Review and submit the application form. Take a printout of the filled application form and keep it safe for future reference.
